Submarine

Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemuhle paper - Black aluminum frame with museum grade glass
I photographed the sole of a high-heeled shoe with a mixture of flash and gobo lighting, and played with its reflection on a glass plate making the image more layered and intriguing. The result is a dynamic abstract image in warm red and orange colors which made me think of a diving submarine finding its way under a sunlit water surface.

This photograph presents a luminous, sculptural form suspended within an intense red field. A curved volume dominates the composition, its surface softly diffused and radiant from within. The edges are defined by a dark contour that frames the warmth of the interior light, creating a powerful contrast between density and glow.
Beneath the primary form, a reflective plane captures fragmented constellations of light, scattering them into delicate, organic patterns. These reflections introduce depth and ambiguity, blurring the boundary between solid structure and atmospheric illusion. The composition balances weight and levity: the form appears substantial yet floats within a saturated, almost immersive chromatic space.
Stripped of identifiable context, the image becomes an exploration of luminosity, curvature, and spatial tension. It invites the viewer into a sensorial experience where light functions as material, and form dissolves into pure abstraction.
