Ducks

600 MM X 900 MM
Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemuhle paper - Black aluminum frame with museum grade glass
A pair of black high-heel sandals appear to be floating over a brightly lit white background, like two ducks playing in the water and enjoying each other's company. By cropping the image to its essence, I make the viewer forget that he is looking at a picture of shoes, and the work's title is chosen to inspire him to think out of the box. It almost feels like looking at a Rorschach test.

This high-contrast abstract photograph distills form to its most essential elements: silhouette, curve, and negative space. Two dark, sculptural shapes confront each other across a luminous white void, their edges softened by subtle gradients of light. The composition is defined not by detail, but by contour—fluid lines that suggest motion, tension, and quiet dialogue.
The interplay between black and white transforms the image into a study of balance and opposition, where absence becomes as powerful as presence. The negative space functions as a central figure, carving a luminous pathway between the forms and creating a sense of suspended movement. Stripped of context and material identity, the photograph becomes a meditation on abstraction itself—an exploration of rhythm, contrast, and the poetry of shape.
