The shallow depth of field used to photograph the glass crystals on top of this lacquered pump makes them almost magical as they catch the light. The contrasting red background adds to the luxurious slightly decadent atmosphere, like a red velvet curtain in a high end night club. Turning the image vertically helped make it more abstract and less identifiable.
Gallery text:
This abstract photograph explores the tension between luxury and intimacy through an extreme close-up of a glittering, crystal-studded surface. Thousands of tiny reflective points dissolve into a soft field of light, creating a shimmering cascade that feels fluid rather than solid. The subject hovers between materiality and illusion, where texture becomes atmosphere and structure becomes glow.
Set against a bold red and deep black backdrop, the silver brilliance takes on a sculptural presence, carving a luminous form out of shadow. The shallow depth of field transforms sharp detail into bokeh-like sparkles, lending the image a dreamlike, almost cinematic quality. Stripped of context, the object becomes pure abstraction—an exploration of seduction, light, and reflection—inviting the viewer into a quiet, sensorial encounter with surface and radiance.
